For those in Lubbock hoping to get some rain or maybe see a few thunderstorms pop up on Tuesday, there remains a chance that it could happen this afternoon, but those chances aren’t looking great for our immediate area.

Thunderstorm Chances Tuesday Increase off the Caprock

While those in the City of Lubbock could see a stray storm or two or even light rain, the biggest threat of severe weather for Tuesday is to the east of Lubbock and the east of the Caprock according to the National Weather Service.

Places like Matador and Post have a slight risk of seeing severe weather this afternoon and tonight while places east including Aspermont and Guthrie will fall into the “enhanced risk” category.

While the tornado threat is low, wind gusts of 70 mph and baseball size hail is possible.

Cooler Temperatures Coming

According to KAMC, high temperatures on Wednesday will be in the mid-60’s for Lubbock while Thursday’s high is expected to be in the low 70’s. A warm-up is expected on Friday and Saturday with Saturday’s highs reaching the low 90’s.

As of this writing, another cold front could come through Monday knocking high temperatures down into the 50’s.
