Texas (22-1, 3-0) is still behind No. 1 Tennessee and No. 2 Texas Tech in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll released Tuesday. The Longhorns didn’t receive a first-place vote while garnering 712 total points. Tennessee received 30 of the 31 first-place votes.

The latest rankings reflect the SEC’s continuing dominance. Five of the top six teams come from the conference, including No. 4 Alabama, No. 5 Florida and No. 6 Oklahoma along with Tennessee and Texas. Overall, 11 SEC teams earned a spot in the poll.

After a Wednesday nonconference game against East Texas A&M, Texas opens a three-game SEC series against Ole Miss (18-8, 0-3) Friday at McCombs Field.
