The Longhorns, meanwhile, have been one of the most dominant teams in the country. Their pitching staff, a combination of veterans and freshmen, is holding opponents to a 2.30 earned run average. Five players have an OPS over 1.000. Outfielder Aiden Robbins is Texas’ breakout star, with an OPS of 1.253 and eight home runs, including a 466-foot monster he hit out of Daikin Park.

Here are live updates from Texas and Texas State’s matchup.

Alizah Gutierrez relieves Yearwood. Robbins leads off the sixth with a single. Rodriguez grounds into a 5-4-3 double play. Becerra flies out to right field.

Carson flies out to center. Boles lines a ball right to Rodriguez’s glove. Namken draws a walk. Cozart comes out of the game for left-hander Ethan Walker. Cotton also walks. A soft liner to short sends the game into the sixth.

Yearwood walks the leadoff batter. He gets his second K of the day on Livingston. Mendoza strikesout swinging. Park lasers a ball to Salas for the final out of the phase.

Sam Cozart strikesout Cotton to lead off the fourth. Galloway singles to centerfield, bringing up Stewart, who strikesout looking. Salas takes a pitch to the back, putting runners on first and second. Park takes the first pitch and launches it to left field for a three-run homer.

Park fields a tough ball to short, but his throw to Salas is too high. Smith nails Rodriguez in the leg, putting runners on first and second. Becerra bounces a ball to third. After the forceout, Salas misplays the throw, allowing the ball to get behind him. He guns down Rodriguez, who was trying to take home from second. Pack slams a two-run bomb out of Bobcat Ballpark.

Alex Yearwood takes the mound. He strikes out Borba to end the top of the fourth.

Tanner Carson strikesout. Texas gets second baseman Brady Boles and catcher Clayton Namken with two spectacular defensive plays. 

Texas third baseman Timo Becerra leads off the third with a single. Pack takes first off a hit-by-pitch. Borba crushes a 476-foot home run to straightaway center field, extending the Longhorns’ lead to 5-0. Right-hander Cade Smith relieves Connell. Duplantier lines a ball right at the second baseman. Livingston doubles to right field. Smith records two consecutive strikeouts to limit the damage.

First baseman Manny Salas groundsout on a chopper to first. Shortstop Dawson Park strikesout on three pitches. Third baseman Chase Mora popsout, bringing up the third inning.

Connell strikesout designated hitter Josh Livingston, bringing up the top of the order. Mendoza groundsout to second. Connell walks two consecutive batters. Rodriguez groundsout to bring up the Texas State bats.

Jackson Cotton leads off with a laser to right field, but gets caught out trying to turn the hit into a triple. Rashawn Galloway flies out to right-center. Jaquae Stewart ends the inning with an infield popout.

Texas State left-handed pitcher Titan Targac strikes out Texas leadoff Ethan Mendoza. Catcher Carson Tinney pokes a ball into the outfield for a single. He catches center fielder Aiden Robbins swinging on a breaking ball for his second K. Shortstop Adrian Rodriguez grounds a ball through the second base gap for an RBI single that he stretches into a double off an errant throw. 

Targac gives up a walk on four straight pitches. He gives up walks to left fielder Anthony Pack Jr. and Casey Borba, putting another Longhorns run on the board. Right-handed pitcher Shane Connell comes in for Targac. He strikes out right fielder Jayden Duplantier for the third out.
