The Lubbock Professional Fire Fighters Association is proud to announce the launch of a fundraising campaign to support the designation and installation of the First Responders Memorial Loop road sign, which names the new Loop 88 in Lubbock in honor of all fallen first responders.
Earlier this year, the Texas Legislature passed, and the Governor signed into law, legislation officially designating Loop 88 in Lubbock as the First Responders Memorial Loop. The designation serves as a lasting tribute to fallen firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, and all first responders whose courage and commitment to public service will never be forgotten.
While the designation has been approved, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) does not fund the fabrication or installation of memorial highway signage. Under state law, the cost associated with producing and installing the memorial signs must be covered through private donations.
