Austin, TX — Ballet Austin is offering free tickets to anyone named Timothée (or Timothee/Timothy) after actor Timothée Chalamet suggested in a recent interview that “no one cares” about ballet or opera anymore.
Chalamet made the remarks during an appearance on the University of Texas at Austin campus, just blocks from Ballet Austin’s home stage.
“Timothée, you were in Austin. We were literally down the street,” the company said on Instagram.
The giveaway invites anyone named Timothée, Timothee or Timothy to claim a complimentary ticket to Ballet Austin’s current production, “Marie Antoinette: Vampire Queen of Versailles,” March 27-29, 2026, at the Long Center, by sending the company a direct message and showing a valid ID.
Chalamet’s comments came during a conversation with actor Matthew McConaughey in which the two discussed the future of movie theaters.
