NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Injured forward Lassina Traore did not make the trip to Nashville for this week’s SEC Tournament with Texas basketball and could miss the rest of the season, Texas coach Sean Miller said.

“We’re at the point now with him where I don’t want to be presumptuous, and we don’t know what our future is, but there’s obviously a real chance that he won’t play again,” Miller said after his team’s practice Tuesday at Bridgestone Arena.

Traore, a 6-foot-9, 245-pound senior, has missed eight consecutive games with soreness in a surgically repaired knee that he originally injured in a preseason practice at Xavier in October 2024. He followed Miller from Xavier in the offseason and averaged 5.3 points and 3.4 rebounds while serving as the first big man off the bench.

Nic Codie, a 6-foot-8 sophomore from Dallas, has filled in as the top reserve forward in Traore’s absence. In the past eight games, he has averaged 3.4 points and 3.5 points with six total blocks in 16 minutes.
