LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Occasional light rain showers are likely across much of the South Plains and Rolling Plains today. The clouds and showers will help limit temperatures to the 70s this afternoon.
While rain is likely at times, amounts generally will light. I expect amounts of a few tenths are possible, but some areas won’t receive that much. In fact, many areas are likely to record less than a tenth of an inch.

Wind speeds, too, will increase as temperatures warm. The breezy conditions will bring elevated fire weather conditions. Continue to be cautious if you will be involved in outdoor activities which may involve open flames, generate extreme heat, or create sparks.
We are watching a system which may bring rain to the area Thursday and Thursday night. As of today, data indicates rain at that time is unlikely but possible. Dry weather is expected Friday and this weekend.
Highs today slightly below average for the date, then above the rest of the work week. Temperatures near average this weekend.(KCBD First Alert)
A cold front, currently anticipated to not have much cold air support, will drop temperatures slightly this weekend. Only, however, to around the average for the time of year. If so, you can expect a chilly Sunday morning.
