America’s largest traveling whiskey festival is returning to Dallas for the fifth year in a row, bringing more than 150 whiskey and bourbon pours just in time for St. Patrick’s Day weekend. The festival, in its ninth year of touring nationally, sold out its Dallas stop last year, organizers say. All attendees get a tasting glass to take home, and those who spring for early-entry tickets will have access to rare and limited-edition whiskies that won’t be available during the event’s regular hours. Attendees must be 21 or older.

Dinosaurs once roamed the earth in present-day Grapevine. And now, they’re coming back — in animatronic form. Visitors can learn about the area’s prehistoric past at this walk-through exhibition on the shore of Grapevine Lake, with hands-on activities for the whole family. A total of 15 animatronic dinosaurs, up to 15 feet tall, will be on display, along with a showcase of paleontology tools, fossil displays, games, a walk-like-a-dinosaur costume area, a dig site, craft activities and more. Guests looking for some extra fun can attend themed Dinos After Dark events, from 7 to 9 p.m. on select dates, or stay at one of the park’s “Camp with the Dinosaurs” campsites, starting at $45 per night.

Panther Island Pavilion will glow with thousands of floating lanterns as this all-ages festival returns for another year of lights, music and reflection. Billed as a celebration of hope, love and peace, the festival invites participants to personalize and release lanterns onto the Trinity River at sunset, creating a display of flickering lights across the water. Guests can also enjoy food trucks, live music, vendors and a scavenger hunt before the lantern launch. The largest annual floral festival in the Southwest is back, with more than 500,000 blooming bulbs planted throughout the gardens of the Dallas Arboretum. Welcome spring with colorful tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and other seasonal favorites. In addition to expansive floral displays, Dallas Blooms offers a lineup of seasonal programming. Highlights include the Garden Chef Series through April 5, where local chefs will share seasonal recipes on Fridays and Saturdays at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m.; and the Creative Arts Series through March 31, an arts-focused program featuring live performances and creative showcases. The latest sign of spring’s imminent arrival? Butterflies in the Garden is back at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. The garden’s Rainforest Conservatory has been transformed into a habitat for thousands of butterflies from around the world, including the electric-blue Instagram star Blue Morpho and the massive Atlas moth, whose wingspan can reach nearly a foot across. Venture into this living kaleidoscope of color and learn all about the importance of pollinating insects.
