The body found earlier this week near a Lake Highlands park has been identified as a 66-year-old woman from Richardson.
Gwendolyn McTernen was found about 7:30 p.m. Monday in a creek bottom in the 8500 block of Walnut Hill Lane, near Harry South Moss Park, according to online records from the Dallas County medical examiner’s office.
Messiah Lutheran Church confirmed the news in a statement posted on Facebook.
“Gwen was a beloved member of our church family and we grieve together while holding fast to the hope we have in Christ,” the statement read.

In another Facebook post, McTernen’s daughter confirmed her last contact with her mother was on Saturday morning, when she set out on a trail hike.
McTernen was blind, her daughter said, adding she requested a critical silver alert when reporting her missing.
“See you soon beautiful lady, we will forever be grateful for being the glue of our family and for instilling in us the importance of living as God wants us to,” she wrote.
According to Richardson police, there are no indications of foul play.
