Before being elected, Brown had eight points, two rebounds, seven assists and one steal in 13 minutes of game time.

Why was Jaylen Brown ejected from the Celtics vs. Spurs game?

The Celtics lost one of their star players early in the game, when guard Jaylen Brown was ejected after passionately arguing that he had been fouled by Spurs point guard Stephon Castle. The tight defensive coverage resulted in Brown stumbling out of bounds and turning the ball over, and no foul was called on the floor. Brown contested that he had been pushed out of bounds. Brown continued arguing his case to official Tyler Ford while going down the other end of the floor, with Ford eventually whistling Brown for a technical foul for continuing to argue the call. After that, Brown became more passionate making his case over the alleged foul, which led official Suyash Mehta to whistle Brown for a second technical foul.

Per NBA rules, two technical fouls for “unsportsmanlike” conduct in one game results in a player ejection. So, Brown was ejected and unable to play for the remainder of the game.

The officiating crew noted that “in live play, we did not observe any illegal contact,” in the no-call play that led to Brown’s reaction, via ESPN. Per the officials, Brown received the first technical foul for “aggressively pointing and using profanity and resentment to the no-call,” while the second tech came after the player “aggressively approached a game official while pointing and using profanity.”
