One Interstate 20 ramp in Dallas County and several Interstate 35 sections of road in Denton County will close this week.

North Texans should plan for additional travel time. Here’s what to know.

Dallas County I-20 closure

The off-ramp between westbound I-20 and northbound U.S. Highway 67 closes Thursday at 9 p.m. and reopens later this month, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. The closure is part of a $5 million bridge maintenance project intended to rehabilitate nine bridges across Dallas and Denton counties, and is expected to finish in early fall 2026, weather permitting.

Traffic will be directed to eastbound I-20 to Wheatland Road as a detour for access to westbound I-20.

Kenna Mitchell, a public information officer for TxDOT, said a bridge in Denton County on U.S. Highway 377 and Hickory Creek Relief also faces disruptions. Future closures will be announced and scheduled as the project progresses.

Denton County I-35 closures

A $117 million ongoing improvement project in Lewisville will result in several traffic impacts Friday on I-35 East. The standalone project started in 2023 and focuses on rebuilding the interchange at I-35E and FM 1171. It is set to finish in 2027.
