SAN ANTONIO – A woman charged in relation to a deadly dog attack has been handed down her sentence.
On Friday, Destiny Cardona was sentenced to six years ‘deferred adjudication’ alongside 90 hours of community service, and was ordered to pay $1,590.

Cardona is the sister of Abilene Schneider, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the dog attack that killed 81-year-old Ramon Najera and seriously injured his wife, Janie Najera.

Destiny Cardona was initially accused of threatening neighbors who witnessed the fatal attack in February of 2023.
According to a police affidavit, Cardona was arrested for allegedly threatening a woman who spoke with police and with the media after the attack.

Documents say Cardona told the victim in a mix of English and Spanish, “You are going to pay for this,” and “We are going to kill your son, bring him to you, find you, and kill you.”
