Texas Task Force 1 rescues trapped Longhorn from deep mud in Longview

LONGVIEW, Texas — Texas Task Force 1 Water Squad members based in Longview pulled off a rescue that screams Texas: freeing an unlucky Longhorn mired in deep mud.

Officials said the TX‑TF1‑WS Longview team responded earlier this week after the animal became trapped in a muddy area. Photos shared by the team show the steer partially sunk and unable to move before crews worked it free.

“No matter the challenge, our team is always ready to help,” the task force said. Squads have been responding to weather threats across the state such as this one.
