A Fort Worth mother was arrested March 7 after a car crash in which her infant son was ejected from the vehicle, police said.
Karla Flores, 17, faces charges including reckless injury to a child resulting in serious bodily injury, according to jail records.
Officers were dispatched to the crash at Rock Island Street and Azle Avenue, in north Fort Worth, shortly after 7 a.m. on Saturday, a police spokesperson said.
Investigators believe the driver of one vehicle ran a stop sign and hit another vehicle. The baby, who was not restrained, was thrown from Lopez’ vehicle in the crash, causing serious injury, police said.
The infant, identified as 6-month-old Sebastian Reyes, was taken to Cook Children’s hospital, where he died Monday night in the pediatric ICU, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Lopez was released from jail on a $30,000 bond, according to court records.
