GEORGETOWN, Texas — Lightning sparked a brush fire in Georgetown Wednesday morning, according to the fire department.

The fire broke out near the Ronald Reagan Boulevard area, the Georgetown Fire Department said. Crews were able to bring it under control within hours.

The fire was first reported around 6 a.m. Firefighters responded quickly and worked to prevent the flames from spreading to surrounding areas. By 9:16 a.m., the department confirmed the fire was under control.

Residents in the area may continue to see smoke as crews remain on scene to monitor and fully secure the fire.

The Georgetown Fire Department urged motorists traveling near the area to use caution and watch for emergency vehicles still working in the vicinity.
