San Antonio saw several legacy closures throughout 2025, including the shuttering of Pat O’Brien’s, a New Orleans-style bar known for its Hurricane cocktails that spent decades on the River Walk before serving its final round in August 2025. Now, a new bar with Texas-inspired style is taking over the former home of Pat O’Brien’s.
The bar is called The Rowdy Spur, and it is officially open at 121 Alamo Plaza, having hosted a grand opening bash at the end of February. The new bar is a self-proclaimed honky-tonk that features live country music alongside its boozy offerings. MySA reached out to the business to inquire further, but we did not receive a response at the time of publishing.

The website for The Rowdy Spur provides a little more insight into the bar, which apparently has more than just live music and drinks. The watering hole also has a cafe that serves Texas-sized burgers, wings and other bar foods. It also offers karaoke, giving customers a chance to sing their hearts out while they enjoy the space. Additionally, The Rowdy Spur maintains a cigar and whiskey bar called The Hideout.
The Rowdy Spur is not the only new addition to San Antonio’s River Walk scene. In December 2025, Mexico-based Sin Yolanda launched its cantina and restaurant near Boudro’s. That same year, the owner behind Be Kind & Rewind announced a new concept, Paradise Unknown, would be heading to the area by March 2026.
