FRISCO — Dallas Cowboys officials are thinking of moving cornerback Trevon Diggs to injured reserve.
Diggs was ruled out for Sunday’s game at Denver on Friday. It’s the second consecutive game Diggs has missed since he reported to team officials he suffered an injury at his home late last week.
If Diggs is placed on injured reserve, he would be out for four weeks. The Cowboys can also place Diggs on in-season NFI, or nonfootball injury. He would miss a minimum of four weeks and not count against the 53-man roster.
Diggs was placed in concussion protocol Oct. 17 and must go through five steps to get cleared.

“He’s had several things going on and that pertains to past injuries,” team co-owner Stephen Jones said Friday on 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM). “So there’s things that we’re looking at there. We hadn’t ruled [placing him on IR] out. We’ll look at that [Saturday] as well.”
Diggs had offseason knee surgery and returned to start the season sooner than expected. But he’s dealt with hamstring and knee problems this season, and now the concussion he suffered last week is causing more issues.
Team officials won’t say much about how Diggs suffered a concussion at his home. But coach Brian Schottenheimer indicated to reporters that they should speak with Diggs.
“He’s still in the protocol,” Schottenheimer said. “When you guys get an opportunity to talk to Trevon, you can talk to him. We have more information. I’ll let him when he’s ready and able to talk about it.”
When Diggs first suffered the injury, team officials didn’t know exactly what happened. After the Cowboys’ win over the Washington Commanders last week, team owner and general manager Jerry Jones said he was told the story, but had questions about it.
With the trade deadline approaching on Nov. 4, speculation is rising Diggs could be on the move.
“We hadn’t even gone there,” Stephen Jones said on the radio. “We’re just obviously taking this thing week to week and trying to see how we can get him 100% healthy so he can help us.”
