  • March 12, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Breezy conditions returned this morning as cool high pressure moves into western Kansas and heads toward the South Plains.

KCBDKCBD(KCBD)

Thursday will bring mild temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s with southwest winds gusting between 30 to 40 mph. While these winds are much calmer than recent days, they’re still strong enough to kick up patchy blowing dust across northern and northwestern areas during the afternoon. Lows Thursday night will dip into the 40s as southwest breezes shift to the west-northwest.

The warming trend continues into the weekend. Saturday could see record-breaking highs before strong winds and fire weather concerns return Sunday. The combination of gusty winds and dry conditions will create dangerous fire weather.

A brief cooldown is expected Monday, but don’t expect relief to last long. Temperatures will warm back up with continued dry conditions expected through the period.
