Born and raised in Austin, Joffe is back in town with a packed schedule that includes seven SXSW shows. The rising star stopped by the studio before her Rolling Stone showcase to share more about this exciting time in her life.

“It’s crazy. I mean, the Rolling Stone showcase, playing Moody Theatre live. You know, it’s like I grew up going there. I remember when I went to see Rosalia there. It is really crazy. I haven’t really comprehended it. I think when I’m there in person, it will really set in.”

Among the biggest stops: the Rolling Stone Future of Music showcase, where she’s set to share the bill with headliner Lola Young.

“It’s got to be big. Her song “One Thing” was on my Spotify Wrapped this year. I’m ready to be singing it backstage at the top of my lungs. It is definitely a pinch-me moment. When I got the call, I was over the moon.”

The SXSW run comes right after Joffe wrapped a European tour with King Princess, bringing her from international stages back to her hometown crowd.

Fans also have new music to add to their playlists. Joffe’s latest single, “Texas Baby,” has been released, and its music video premiered earlier this week.

“This song is so special to me. I started writing it two years ago, and I put it on the back shelf and was like, ‘I don’t know if this is right for me right now.’ Then one day I was like, ‘Oh, I need to make this song.’ I know exactly what it needs to sound like and what it needs to be. And the second I started, like revisiting the song, it just felt right. And some of those things that are just poured out of me. And the second it was finished, I knew this was it.”

More is on the way, too, with plans in the works for her debut album. Listeners can keep up with Susannah Joffe on her website, on streaming platforms, and through her official social channels.
