Richard Kinder, founder and executive chairman of Houston-based midstream giant Kinder Morgan Inc. (NYSE: KMI), jumped from No. 248 last year to No. 232 this year. That makes him the highest-ranked Houstonian on the list, surpassing Tilman Fertitta.
Kinder’s estimated net worth increased from $10.6 billion a year ago to $13 billion this year, while Fertitta’s increased from $11.3 billion to $11.7 billion, falling from No. 220 last year to No. 268 currently. Last spring, Fertitta resigned from his position at Landry’s, as well as from the leadership of other ventures.
