At a rare joint meeting, the Murphy City Council and Planning & Zoning (P&Z) Commission adopted a zoning Master Plan for the city and rezoned a residential neighborhood for commercial use.
The comprehensive plan updated a document last drafted in 2008.

Assistant City Manager Jared Mayfield said the new zoning reversed zoning in place since November 2021 and was in compliance with the new comprehensive plan.
