A new spot to beat the heat in Stone Oak and across North San Antonio is launching soon, just in time for the summer.

What’s happening

Alsies ice cream is launching a new truck that will serve northern portions of San Antonio beginning March 14, according to a news release.

It’s led by local owners Milton Miranda and Manelys Acosta.

Miranda said in the news release that they had discussed franchising with the company for “some time.”

“We’ve always wanted to build something together outside of medicine,” Miranda said. “Our careers have been focused on serving others, but Alsies felt like an opportunity to create something of our own that also brings joy to families.”

The context

Additionally, another Alsies truck—locally-owned by Steve Johns—opened to the public on March 2 with a ribbon-cutting celebration in the Schertz area, according to previous reporting from Community Impact.

The mobile ice cream truck will serve residents throughout Northeast San Antonio, including Schertz, Cibolo, Live Oak and Universal City.

Craving ice cream?

Customers can locate an Alsies truck by using their app, according to the business’s website. It will display a truck’s location in real time.

There are also rental options available for private events, parties and weddings; plus customers can recommend new routes for the truck to come through their own neighborhoods.

The menu features a selection of gourmet ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, La Paleta and more.

“As a locally owned business, we want this to feel like part of the neighborhood,” Acosta said in the release. “It’s not just about a truck driving through; it’s school visits, fundraisers and community events. We want to be involved.”

A grand opening ceremony will be held on March 14 from 1-3 p.m. at the Mitchell’s Landing Playground parking lot in Stone Oak.
