Funds for the Fort Worth Heritage Park pedestrian project were approved. The city of Fort Worth provided $2 million in local funding and requested $8 million in Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program funding from the RTC. The funds will be used to better connect downtown Fort Worth to the Trinity Trails, and includes the addition of ADA-compliant ramps to “fill the existing pedestrian gap”.
The council also heard recommendations regarding several other ongoing projects. TxDOT’s Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Plan began in 2024 but was paused in early 2025 due to a federal funding freeze on the national program. It later resumed in August, and in January 2026, TxDOT received certification from the Federal Highway Administration that Texas highways in the designated fuel corridors are “fully built out”. This certification completed phase one of the plan, allowing TxDOT to move into phase two.
