Dallas-based fiber internet provider Gigapower has named Dave Dobbin as its chief strategy officer and a member of the company’s leadership team.

In this role, Dobbin will lead development of the company’s long-term strategy, growth initiatives, market expansion priorities, and enterprise-wide change management programs.

“Dave brings deep experience from multiple leadership roles in the telecom industry, especially in driving strategic growth. His track record of executing complex programs will propel Gigapower to the next level as we expand our fiber network across the United States,” Gigapower CEO Francisco Maella said in a statement. “We look forward to seeing how Dave will strengthen Gigapower’s ability to meet and exceed its objectives and goals.”

A joint venture between Dallas-based AT&T and BlackRock Alternatives, Gigapower was launched in 2022 with a goal of increasing internet access to communities across the U.S. The company aims to revolutionize the industry’s business model by operating as an open-access platform.

Dobbin has more than three decades of global telecom experience in fiber, fixed wireless, and mobile networks in both the consumer and business services sectors. He has served as chief executive officer, president, chief operating officer, and chief technology innovation officer for organizations including Zentro Internet, Hargray Communications, Mobilicity, Toronto Hydro Telecom, and Telecom Ottawa.

“I’m honored to join Gigapower at such a pivotal moment for the company,” Dobbin said. “The opportunity to help expand the number of markets we serve and to evolve the operations of the company is truly exciting. It is a privilege to collaborate with Francisco and our stakeholders to position Gigapower for long-term success.”
