CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M Track & Field sends 21 student-athletes to Virginia Beach, Virginia this weekend for the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships being held at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex.
Matt Stewart is in his ninth season leading the storied West Texas A&M Track & Field program, winning the Lone Star Conference Indoor Coach of the Year honors on both the men’s and women’s side. Stewart and the Lady Buffs won the Indoor Track & Field National Championship in 2018.
Action begins on Friday morning as Nikolas Kosmopoulos and Fran Bonifacic compete in the heptathlon beginning at 9:00 a.m. CT. The Lady Buffs begin their weekend with the women’s long jump at 1:05 p.m. CT as Esther Conde-Turpin starts the first of her three events as she will also compete in the 60m hurdles and the pentathlon.
The No. 2 Lady Buffs send 13 student-athletes to Virginia Beach while the No. 7 Buffs qualified eight for the NCAA Championships.
