An investigation into a recent home invasion in Orrville has led to the arrests of five people — three of them juveniles.
The arrests come as a result of an investigation that started last week, after sheriff’s investigators say a man kicked in the door at a house in Orrville and opened fire on the man inside.
Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum says 20-year-old T.B. Gunn and three juveniles, all from Selma, are among those arrested. They’re now being held without bond on charges of conspiracy to commit murder, burglary and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
“You play adult games, you’re going to win adult prizes. You’re going to stay in an adult prison, you’re going to an adult jail. You’re going to be treated as an adult. This is a serious offense,” Sheriff Granthum told Action 8 News.
Granthum says investigators found and confiscated several high-powered weapons during their searches.
“You turn on the news and you watch the war that’s going on now in Iran. You see some of these same weapons on the battlefield, but we have them here on our streets,” he said.
Granthum says 19-year-old Maleek Ballard was arrested during the searches after Granthum said he was found in possession of a Glock switch device, which converts a semi-automatic handgun into a fully automatic weapon.
“Right now, we have him charged with the state. We are in contact with the federal government and try to get him down there to Mobile and prosecute him for having a Glock switch.”
Sheriff Granthum says more arrests could be coming.
