BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Women’s Tennis lost to Sam Houston 5-2 on Thursday at the Warren County Tennis Facility at Michael O. Buchanon Park.
The Lady Toppers (8-8) picked up a doubles win at the No. 2 position from Andra Sirbu and Emily Schut, and earned singles wins from Virginia Madueño at the No. 3 position and Elizabeth Sobieski at the No. 6 position.

NOTABLES
WKU falls to 8-8 overall, 6-5 at home and 0-1 against Conference USA opponents this season with the loss.
The Lady Toppers wrapped up a six-match homestand with Thursday’s match. WKU went 3-3 during the homestand, with wins over Butler, Belmont and Tennessee State.
WKU has gone 55-40 in singles matches this season.
Virginia Madueño improved to 13-2 in singles matches this season. She is now 3-0 from the No. 3 position.
Elizabeth Sobieski improved to 3-2 in singles matches this season. She has played all of those matches at the No. 6 position.
Andra Sirbu and Emily Schut are now 5-8 together in doubles this season and 1-0 together at the No. 2 position.
Schut’s doubles win was the 20th of her WKU career. The 20 doubles wins ranks 13th in program history.
