EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Two brothers were arrested on criminal warrants earlier this week in Central El Paso, according to the El Paso County Constable’s Office for Precinct 3.

On Monday, March 9, deputy constables received information of an active warrant for 37-year-old Esdra Ruiz-Esparza, who was wanted for criminal mischief with a $50,000 bond. He was possibly residing at the 2400 block of Texas Avenue.

According to Sergeant Fernie Carrasco with the Constable’s Office, Ruiz-Esparza allegedly set a dumpster on fire, which caused an electric pole to catch fire.

In addition, deputy constables also had information on Ruiz-Esparza’s brother, Jonathan Ruiz-Esparza, who was wanted for assault family violence and criminal mischief warrants, with a total bond of $4,000.

Deputies met with Esdra Ruiz-Esparza and took him into custody. A short time later, Jonathan Ruiz-Esparza arrived to the residence, where he was also taken into custody.

Jonathan Ruiz-Esparza’s warrants were from a case that happened on June 18, 2025, at the residence, according to the Constable’s Office.

Esdra Ruiz-Esparza was later released to Fire Medical Services after feeling ill and requesting medical assistance at a local hospital. He was later released and his warrant was re-filed at the El Paso City Municipal Court.

According to the Constable’s Office, they provided information to the El Paso Police Department on the location of where Esdra Ruiz-Esparza could be.

He was re-arrested on Wednesday, March 11, along the 2400 block of Texas Avenue by EPPD officers.

Both brothers were booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.

“Constable Bernal’s deputies continue to actively execute all outstanding warrants within El Paso, Texas, as part of their commitment to public safety and law enforcement efforts in the community. Constable Bernal would like to remind the public that his deputies are vigilant while conducting pro-active patrol duties and will enforce the execution of warrants from ALL law enforcement agencies,” read a news release by the Constable’s Office.
