AUSTIN, Texas — If you do not have a South by Southwest (SXSW) badge there is still a lot to see and do in Downtown Austin. Here are four top picks at SXSW that are free and open to the public.

1. RIVIAN JOYRIDE

The idea of off-roading on Congress Avenue right in front of the State Capitol might sound crazy but it is happening during SXSW. Riding shotgun on the ultimate electric JoyRide is one of the top four South-By experiences that is free and open to the public.

Climb into the passenger seat of the Rivian R2 all-electric SUV to test the challenge-filled course. Around 2,500 tons of recycled asphalt was used to create obstacles, three wedges and a cement block hill climb.

The Electric Joyride is open to the public from March 13-18 and is available first-come, first-serve at 800 Congress Avenue.

2. PARAMOUNT+ LODGE

The Paramount+ Lodge is back for its fourth year with a three-level takeover of the Clive Bar on Rainey Street. No badge is required to step inside and get a big welcome to West Texas.

This immersive oilfield takeover puts guests on the set of the popular series Landman. Other highlights are a stop at the Montana frontier for a first look at the Yellowstone spinoff Marshals. UFC fans can also hear the crowds roar in a full-scale fighter walkout tunnel. Survivor fans can light their own torch as the show celebrates 50 seasons.

The Paramount+ Lodge is free and open to the public through Sunday, March 15 at 609 Davis Street. Hours are noon to 7 p.m.

3. GARRISON PUB

An old-school Ford Model T welcomes guests to The Garrison Pub pop-up. The Garrison transports fans into the world of the film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.

The immersive experience is set in the 1940’s during the early days of World War 2. This is the place to freshen your look with a Shelby haircut inspired by Tommy Shelby from Peaky Blinders. Guests can also take a tin-type antique photo and check out the custom bar with whiskey-forward cocktails.

The Garrison Pub is free and open through Saturday, March 14 at 920 Congress Avenue. Hours are 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

4. INVINCIBLE BURGER MART

Step into your own episode of Invincible at the show’s iconic Burger Mart. From the checkered floors to the neon signs, the fast-food joint was built from the ground up in collaboration with BRISK.

Fans of the highly popular animated superhero series lined up to order a hot BM and fries.

The Burger Mart activation is open through Saturday at 201 E. 4th street. Hours are 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
