A barn containing horses had to be evacuated after the west Fort Worth structure caught fire early Friday, officials said.
Firefighters responded to the 9900 block of Richland Street, near old Highway 80 and Longvue Avenue, shortly before 12:30 a.m. Neighbors reported hearing explosions at the location, fire officials said in a statement on Facebook.
Crews found the building — which was used as a garage, shop and barn — engulfed in flames. Firefighters aggressively attacked the blaze and kept it from spreading to the main house, according to the post. The explosions had been caused by propane tanks and other flammable items inside the structure.
The horses were evacuated safely, and no other animals or people were injured, officials said. Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
Firefighters were able to recover some photo albums and other keepsakes that had been stored in the building to return to the homeowners, according to the post.
