1. Amazon introduces drone delivery changes after Richardson resident concerns
Amazon has introduced adjustments to its Prime Air drone delivery program in Richardson after residents voiced concerns about the noise and frequency of the drones. The drone program launched in early December, delivering over 13,000 customer orders so far. Since the launch, residents who live near the Amazon facility have shared concerns about the noise, frequency and height of the drones that fly over their houses every day.

2. Renovated Richardson Square Mall eyes 2026 opening
Richardson Square Mall’s renovation is “full steam ahead” this year, a transformation that will turn the mall into an “entertainment zone,” Project Manager Patrick Garza said. The multimillion renovation of Richardson Square Mall was originally announced in 2024, almost two decades after the mall closed in 2006. Components are expected to open by this fall.

3. $17M mixed-use development to bring restaurants, more in Phase 1 of downtown Allen revitalization
After years of planning, Allen officials are moving forward with plans for a revitalized downtown. The first phase of the project involves a 2-acre development at the northwest corner of Allen Drive and McDermott Drive, which includes the original Allen fire station building. When completed, the site will feature 18,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space, a public pocket park, a stage and temporary parking, per city documents. The site will include approximately five food and beverage concepts, each with a patio facing the stage where guests can enjoy live music.

4. Argyle planning and zoning commission approves food-trailer concept on US 377
A new food trailer restaurant concept could make a residence in Argyle after the planning and zoning commission recommended approval of the site plan at its March 4 meeting. The food trailer and restaurant building, Akshya Foods, could be located at 606 US 377, Argyle, and would offer Indian-style foods, co-owner Pavan Damarapati said.

5. Southern Steer Butcher to offer cuts of fresh meat in McKinney
Southern Steer Butcher is set to sell fresh, prime cuts of meat from sustainable and domestic sources in McKinney, the company website states. A variety of proteins will be available including beef, chicken and pork. Side dishes, marinades, desserts and more will also be offered. An opening date has not been announced.

6. 327-unit apartment community slated for 2027 opening in McKinney’s Craig Ranch
Palladium Craig Ranch, a new multifamily development, is expected to bring 327 apartment homes to a roughly 4.7-acre site in Craig Ranch Town Center. The project by Dallas-based Palladium USA will bring a four-story residential building wrapped around a concrete parking structure to southwest McKinney. The average unit size will be 842 square feet and will include features such as stainless steel appliances, balconies and in-unit washers and dryers. The community amenities will include a resort-style pool, an activity courtyard, a dog park, a dog spa, a fitness center and more.
