AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Police Department detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect involved in a robbery by assault that occurred on March 8, 2026, at approximately 4:40 p.m.
The incident took place at 5775 Airport Boulevard, where a female victim was using an ATM. As she walked away, a male suspect approached her, asking for money to buy drugs. When the woman refused, the suspect aggressively pulled on her purse, causing visible redness on her arm as she tried to retain her belongings, according to the Austin Police Department.
The suspect grabbed the victim by the arms, attempting to push her against a wall while she and her child yelled for help. Ultimately, he snatched items from the victim’s hands and fled on foot when the child’s screams drew attention. The suspect then removed his jacket and tucked it under his arm to change his appearance and avoid being identified. The victim sustained bruises on her arms from the suspect’s grip during the encounter.
The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5’10” tall, about 160 lbs., in his mid to late 40s, with black short hair and an unshaven black/grey beard. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket over a black vest, a white t-shirt beneath, black pants, and faded black or brown Nike sneakers.
