A trendy Alamo City restaurant just announced that by the end of the year, it’ll be packing up shop and moving to a new home in San Antonio.
Luna Rosa Puerto Rican Grill y Tapas, currently located in the bustling Southtown neighborhood, revealed the news in an Instagram post on Thursday, October 23. According to the post, the restaurant will move just a few hundred feet down South Alamo Street to the former location of Asian fusion spot Hot Joy at 1014 S. Alamo St. The longtime San Antonio foodie staple moved to Broadway back in 2024, after serving sizzling dishes and refreshing cocktails on South Alamo for 10 years.
Luna Rosa’s jump will take place in December, and according to the post, the restaurant’s “new forever home will be a place we can pour even more love, culture, and sabor into for years to come.” While it’s getting ready for the “exciting move,” it noted that “the space here at 910 South Alamo isn’t just a restaurant; it’s where countless birthdays, anniversaries, first dates, family gatherings, and everyday meals have become cherished memories.”
The Puerto Rican eatery – which recently introduced a lunch buffet – relocated to its current location in 2023, after making the move from its original spot in City Base, where it opened in 2015. That first location generated a lot of buzz in the Alamo City, including a feature on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in 2018.
Recently, the family-run restaurant has made waves for its Café Con Ron parties, which blend caffeination with reggaeton beats, as well as the newly-added Bodega at Luna Rosa concept, which added a connected coffee and pastry shop next door.

“From the very beginning, this dream has been built with love, hard work, and a whole lot of corazón. We’ve weathered trials and tribulations, including the unimaginable challenge of the pandemic. Along the way, we’ve also celebrated incredible milestones – being featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with Guy Fieri, winning awards like Best Margarita (two years in a row), Best Cuban Sandwich in Town, and Best Latin American Restaurant in Town, among many others,” the post read.
The post continued, “When we took that leap of faith and moved to downtown, we grew from a cozy 15-table spot to a vibrant 300-seat restaurant. For the past 3 1/2 years, we’ve proudly proven that authentic Puerto Rican cuisine – a cuisine made with love and cooked fresh to order – can shine in a large-format, high-volume setting.”
General Manager Omar Ornelas told MySA via direct message that the move is about more than a change in addresses, marking the “love, support, and trust” the 210 has shown over the years.
“This city has embraced our Puerto Rican culture, food, and music in such a beautiful way, and we’re deeply thankful,” Ornelas said. “More than anything, we want our guests to know how much this current location means to us. It’s where our dream grew into something bigger than we ever imagined. Before we move, we hope everyone will come by, celebrate with us, and make a few more beautiful memories in this space that holds so much of our story.”
