Philadelphia and Dallas Goedert pushed his contract void deadline to Monday, March 16, giving both sides more time to work out a deal, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports. The move creates more time for negotiations. Roseman said the Eagles are losing lesser-talented players, so the team can retain elite talent with contracts looming. One player who could depart is Dallas Goedert. When his contract is voided, Philadelphia will accrue a $20 million dead cap hit if the tight end signs with another team.

The news comes as Dianna Russini reported that the Eagles’ deadline to void Dallas Goedert’s contract has arrived, and star wide receiver A.J. Brown could play a major role in any decision, according to reports. According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Patriots and Rams are making strong pushes to trade for Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown. No deal has been reached as negotiations continue.

A league source believed the Eagles were trying to get multiple teams competing for Brown before free agency began, but with an incredibly high asking price. Early on, the receiver market moved elsewhere, with the Buffalo Bills trading for DJ Moore and the New England Patriots signing Romeo Doubs as free agency began. The Rams continued to wait and monitor Brown’s situation.

Philadelphia general manager Howie Roseman is juggling several salary-cap-related decisions, including the future of tight end Dallas Goedert. The void date on Goedert’s contract was pushed to today, and clarity on Brown’s future could help shape several other roster decisions for the Eagles.

At least two teams — the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams — in recent weeks discussed trading for Brown, whose frustrations in Philadelphia were a running subplot of the Eagles’ 2025 season.

Goedert is 31 years old, and despite his overwhelming talents, the tight end has never had a 1,000-yard season or made the Pro Bowl. Still, Goedert is a warrior, and when he’s healthy, the talented pass catcher is one of the NFL’s top tight ends. In one of the healthiest seasons of his career, Goedert started 15 games, catching 60 passes for 591 yards and a career-high and Eagles franchise high 11 touchdown catches. Goedert had touchdowns in the playoff loss.
