AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man accused of attacking a woman at an ATM on Airport Boulevard and stealing some of her belongings.
According to APD, the incident occurred in the 5700 block of Airport Blvd. on March 8. Police say the suspect approached a woman, who was with her child and a friend, as she was walking away from the ATM and asked her for money to buy drugs. When the woman refused, the suspect aggressively grabbed her purse.
The suspect then tried to push the woman against the wall while she and her child yelled for help. He ultimately snatched items from her hands and fled on foot when the child’s screams drew attention. While leaving the area, police say the suspect took off his jacket as a way to not be recognized.
The woman sustained bruises on her arms during the encounter.
