Legendary punk band will be back at the Longhorn Ballroom on Sept. 11 to kick off its first U.S. tour in over two decades.
DALLAS — The Sex Pistols is celebrating 50 years of punk by kicking off its first U.S. tour in over 20 years in Dallas.
The show marks a return to the Longhorn Ballroom stage where the band delivered a chaotic and now-legendary show during its 1978 U.S. tour, a moment that has become part of Dallas music lore.
The upcoming tour hits the Longhorn Ballroom on Sept. 11.
The concert had originally been scheduled for last fall, but was postponed after guitarist Steve Jones broke his wrist in an accident.
The current touring lineup includes founding members Steve Jones, bassist Glenn Matlock and drummer Paul Cook. Singer Frank Carter will handle lead vocals for the tour.
Original frontman John Lydon — also known as Johnny Rotten — is not participating in the reunion run.
The Dallas stop carries added significance because of the band’s history at the Longhorn Ballroom. Their 1978 appearance there became notorious, drawing a raucous crowd and cementing the venue’s place in punk rock history.
Now, nearly five decades after that performance, the Sex Pistols will once again take the stage at the historic Dallas venue. Tickets are available online at Longhorn Ballroom’s site.
