The National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio is predicting a warm weekend will give way to a cool Monday and Tuesday as a cold front enters the region.
The NWS Austin/San Antonio issued a bulletin about this weekend’s weather on Friday afternoon. According to the report, residents can expect a wide range of temperatures heading into next week.
Warmth will build up to near record levels by Sunday. That means daytime temperatures in the 80s and 90s this weekend.
The cold front coming in on Sunday afternoon and evening will bring strong winds with gusts nearing 50 mph. That will bring much windier and cooler conditions into the area by Monday morning, when temperatures will reach the 30s. Tuesday morning conditions will mirror that.
Note that dry and windy conditions could allow fires to spread quickly. Additionally, a patchy freeze is possible in the Hill Country.
Looking ahead, the NWS expects another warming trend will develop middle to late next week. That could mean mid to upper 80s by Friday in Austin, New Braunfels, and San Antonio. Temperatures could reach into the 90s in Del Rio, Eagle Pass, Llano, and Uvalde.
The NWS is hosting several severe weather and flood training sessions across the region this week. These events are intended to prepare citizens, first responders, emergency management, and other residents for hazardous weather threats specific to South Central Texas.
