BEAUMONT — Beaumont’s basketball fever is headed down I-10 this weekend as the city rallies behind two teams playing for state titles at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Community members turned out early Friday morning at Beaumont United and West Brook High School to send the Timberwolves and Bruins off in style as the boys basketball team boarded the bus for the state championship. The send-off began at 7 a.m., with people bringing posters, noisemakers, and school spirit to cheer the team on.
“Thanks to all of our Bruin family who came out this morning to send off our basketball team with lots of good cheer as they head to San Antonio to claim the state championship for the second year in a row,” organizers said in a message shared after the event.
Both Beaumont United and West Brook are set to play for state championship titles Saturday, March 14, at the Alamodome. West Brook is scheduled to play Frisco Heritage at 11 a.m., and Beaumont United will play Mansfield Summit at 1 p.m.
Supporters also shared encouragement for both squads, saying, “The entire community is cheering you on. Bring home the gold!”
