HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A murder suspect is behind bars again. The suspect, 49-year-old Johna Robinson, was arrested by federal authorities on Friday in a neighborhood along Coralstone Road in northwest Houston.

One neighbor told ABC13 that it wasn’t the first time authorities tried to find Robinson.

The neighbor took pictures from her window last week, showing agents nearby with tactical equipment. “They come over the loudspeakers and say, ‘ This is the FBI, come out,'” she said.

Authorities believe Robinson fatally shot 52-year-old Terribia Dembry last month at a Willowbrook area apartment complex, according to court documents.

Those records show he was pulled over just a few hours after the murder and charged with “unlawful possession of a firearm” since he was already a convicted felon.

Court filings show he posted bond Thursday, of that same week, but there is disagreement over whether the murder charge was filed before or after he left jail.

The sheriff’s office says he left just after 1 a.m. the next Friday morning. According to HPD, the charge was filed at 9 p.m. that Thursday, but online records show it wasn’t filed until 4:15 a.m. Friday.

Court documents from that weapons charge show there was an ongoing homicide investigation, and a hearing officer even brought it up during Robinson’s initial court hearing.

“Officers allege this was some sort of homicide investigation. Your vehicle was listed as a suspect vehicle,” the hearing officer said.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Robinson has prior federal convictions related to drug charges in both Texas and Florida.

On Friday, the feds announced that Robinson allegedly fled from a traffic stop in 2025. They say investigators found 972 grams of methamphetamine in a passenger’s floorboard. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says he was arrested soon after that stop, but it’s not entirely clear what happened between then and the alleged murder.
