For the 12th time in less than two decades, the Plano High School Pep Band is proving they are among the elite musical ensembles in Illinois.
The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) recently announced that Plano is one of just 12 bands statewide chosen to serve as an official state pep band this year. The Reapers will perform at four state championship games throughout March, bringing their signature energy to the tournament atmosphere.
The selection process is highly competitive. To qualify, the band submitted a comprehensive audition video in December that showcased their best work from the fall season.
This latest accolade continues a remarkable legacy of excellence for the program; Plano has now secured a state spot 12 times in the last 16 years.
To mark the occasion, six band section leaders appeared before the Board of Education this week. Alongside band director Susan Webb, the student leaders were formally recognized by board members and district officials for their leadership and dedication to the craft.
