MOUNT HOREB, WI (Amazing America) — Sign me up for this Scandinavian-inspired all-American scavenger hunt.

History and heritage come to life in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, thanks to more than 40 larger-than-life trolls.

The Mount Horeb Trollway is a must-stop spot, and Amazing America’s Sam Buschman shows us why.

The Trollway has been a main attraction on Main Street in this small Midwestern town since the 1970s.

It started as a way to get people to visit and shop at local businesses. It also honors the community’s rich Norwegian and Scandinavian heritage, steeped in legend and lore about the mythical creatures.

Visitors can grab a troll map and follow the footprints down sidewalks, alleyways, and to storefronts where these giant works of wooden art stand ready to greet them.

Each troll is unique with a story to tell. Many of the original statues carved by woodcarver Michael Feeney still stand today. The trolls and the Trollway have helped make Mount Horeb one of the most recognizable tourist towns in Wisconsin.
