HOUSTON — A steer was euthanized earlier this week after being injured during an event at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the rodeo said in a statement.
The injury happened during a steer wrestling event on Wednesday, March 11.
“The Rodeo’s on-site veterinarian immediately evaluated the animal and after careful assessment, determined that euthanasia was the most humane course of action,” the rodeo said in a statement.
HLSR said it has licensed veterinarians on-site throughout the course of the rodeo and the Houston SPCA monitors the livestock welfare daily.

It’s not clear exactly how the steer was injured.
