Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles came into the 2026 NFL offseason with an aggressive mindset looking to push their way back to another Super Bowl next season.

So far in NFL free agency, the team has made a handful of moves. The Eagles have signed Riq Woolen to a one-year deal worth up to $15 million, which is their headline move to this point.

Along with Woolen, Philadelphia has also signed tight end Johnny Mundt, cornerback Jonathan Jones, linebacker Arnold Ebiketie, and re-signed tight end Grant Calcaterra and punter Braden Mann.

While the handful of moves have been quality decision for the Eagles, more work is needed. Keeping that in mind, Philadelphia has been connected to potentially stealing a former No. 1 overall pick from the NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys.

Philadelphia Eagles Could Poach Pass Rusher From Cowboys

Pro Football Network has named the Eagles as a potential landing spot for Jadeveon Clowney in free agency. He spent the 2025 NFL season with the Cowboys.

“Though Clowney missed a few games due to injury and stepped into more of a rotational role for Dallas, he ranked No. 15 in pass-rush win rate among edge rushers at 16.7%. He’ll likely sign onto another one-year deal, but he’s still a quality pass rusher entering Year 13 of his NFL career.”

Since being drafted with the No. 1 overall pick back in the 2014 NFL Draft, Clowney hasn’t quite lived up to the hype. He has had some good years, but has never become an elite pass rusher.

Last season with Dallas, Clowney played in 13 games. He racked up 41 total tackles to go along with 8.5 sacks, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and four defended passes.

Clowney has totaled 450 total tackles, 66.5 sacks, 16 forced fumbles, 11 fumble recoveries, an interception, a defensive touchdown, and 36 defended passes throughout his entire 153-game NFL career.

Other Potential Suitors for Jadeveon Clowney

Along with Philadelphia, a couple of other potential landing spots were mentioned.

Both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots were also suggested as free agency destinations for Clowney. All three teams could offer him a chance to compete for a playoff run.

At 33 years old, Clowney remains a quality impact player. Should the Eagles have interest, he could help improve the pass rush for the 2026 season.

As for what it would take to sign Clowney, Pro Football Network suggested a one-year deal worth around $6.1 million. That price point would be well worth taking a flier on Clowney for Philadelphia.

Expect to continue hearing rumors surrounding the Eagles as the offseason moves forward. Roseman is never scared to make an aggressive move or take a risk. Clowney could be a high-upside target for the team entering the second wave of free agency.
