EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Total Nonstop Action (TNA) wrestling returns to El Paso in December.

Mike Santana, the TNA world champion, shared what fans can expect from this holiday season’s event as well as insight into his career and personal journey.

TNA will be in El Paso for three nights, on Dec. 5, 6 and 7.

According to Santana, the first night will be TNA’s Final Resolution, a pay-per-view event that will be streamed live from El Paso.

Meanwhile, on Dec. 6 and 7, TNA will have two days of TV tapings.

Looking forward to TNA’s return to the Borderland, Santana expressed excitement, describing El Pasoans as having “so much passion and resilience and a great sense of community.”

Santana promised fans a thrilling experience, as he will be defending his title, saying,

Whoever is stepping to me and stepping to the title better come with the same fire and the same passion that I bring.

While speaking about the December matches, Santana described his initial stint with the organization, his humble beginnings, as well as his battle with addiction.

Santana first joined TNA in March 2017, saying, “I was a young up-and-comer at the time and really just breaking out into the scene.”

After a brief departure to gain experience elsewhere, Santana eventually returned to TNA in April 2024, focusing on building his solo career.

Santana’s passion for wrestling began at a young age, influenced by his family.

“My grandparents actually got me into pro wrestling when I was about four years old,” Santana recalled.

Santana’s early exposure included watching WrestleMania 7 and attending a live event at Madison Square Garden, which solidified his love for the sport.

Despite the challenges of a 17-year career, Santana remains driven by passion and his daughter, whom he credits with saving his life during a battle with addiction.

“She is my driving motivation for everything that I do,” Santana said, recounting a poignant moment when his daughter asked Santa for him to stop his destructive behavior.

“It was a dark time in my life,” Santana. “She was young… she was maybe eight years old at the time and she wrote a letter to Santa during Christmas time, and in that letter she asked Santa for ‘Papi to stop.'”
