Dallas Trinity FC fortifies its defense by signing Sydney Cheesman, a U.S. U-23 call-up, as the club aims for a strong postseason push.
DALLAS — Dallas Trinity FC has signed defender Sydney Cheesman, bolstering the club’s backline as it pushes towards the postseason.
Cheesman appeared on ESPN’s website for Dallas Trinity, and sources confirmed the signing with WFAA. An official announcement is expected soon.
Cheesman, a 24-year-old Lafayette, Colo. native, played for both North Carolina and LSU in college. She was also a member of the U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team, alongside fellow DTFC midfielder Lexi Missimo. Cheesman also has national team experience at the U-20, U-18 and U-16 levels.
With the LSU Tigers, Cheesman helped lead the program to their first-ever NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in 2025. She logged 3,557 minutes on the pitch in 44 appearances, scored two goals and dished seven assists from her defender spot.
DTFC continues its second season in the Gainbridge Super League on Wednesday against Lexington SC, which will stream for free on WFAA+. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on March 18.
Dallas is currently third in the league standings with 28 points (8-6-4).
