NEW BRAUNFELS – A local community held a hometown celebration for Elana Meyers Taylor, a beloved resident and 2026 Olympic gold medalist.

The city is inviting residents to gather at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2026, on the Main Plaza for a Gold Medal Parade in her honor.

Meyers Taylor is a six-time Olympic medalist and most recently won gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics as part of the U.S. Women’s Olympic Bobsled Team.

The city said her latest win extends her status as the most decorated Black athlete in Winter Olympic history, a mark she previously reached during the Beijing Games.

The event will begin with a brief ceremony at the bandstand on the Main Plaza. The parade procession is set to start at Hill Avenue and West San Antonio Street, travel to and around Main Plaza, then head back down West San Antonio Street.

Drivers should expect full road closures on the Main Plaza and surrounding side streets starting at about 8 a.m. and lasting for the duration of the event.
