HOUSTON – A Harris County judge found herself in controversy after an altercation at NRG Stadium.
Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo went to NRG Stadium in Houston on Friday to inspect security video tied to a recent incident at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where she claims she was manhandled by show staff earlier in the week.
Hidalgo and her guests were at the event and were told they would not have floor access.
Hidalgo said she still went to the floor to see if there were any open seats, which led to an altercation.
She said security video had been sent to her office earlier in the week, but she wanted to see additional footage.
Describing what she saw on the video, Hidalgo said, “Um, the rest of it, it’s the angle’s not very good.” She added, “Half the time you can’t find, you can’t find me because I was wearing like black hair and I was wearing black. I was wearing this. And so, you know, you basically, you see me the whole time, um, surrounded by a lot of these men.”
Rodeo show staff denied Hidalgo’s accusations.
The rodeo’s executive committee voted in favor of stripping Hidalgo’s ex-officio director title. Hidalgo said she does not plan on going to any more rodeo shows.
