A historic NTT IndyCar Series race will start at a new time due to weather concerns in Arlington, Texas.

The Grand Prix of Arlington, which takes drivers through the Arlington Entertainment District, will move from 12:30 p.m. ET to 11:30 a.m. ET. Fox will still provide coverage for the event.

This is not a rain-related issue. Instead, the concern stems from the potential for high winds in the area. Wind gusts could top 50 mph in the afternoon, which would present a safety concern for fans, officials, and crew members.

The schedule change will also affect the other planned events on the streets of the Arlington Entertainment District, which features the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium and the Texas Rangers’ Globe Life Field.

The IndyCar warmup will move to 9:30 a.m. ET. The Indy NXT race will take place at 10:30 a.m. ET. It will be a 30-minute race with FS1 providing coverage for the up-and-coming open wheel racers.

Alessandro de Tullio from AJ Foyt Racing will lead the field to the green flag for the Indy NXT race as he attempts to move up from 10th in the championship standings.

Marcus Ericsson will lead the IndyCar field to the green flag after winning the pole for the first time in his career. He achieved this ahead of what will be his 117th career start. Four-time champion Alex Palou will line up second.

The inaugural street race through the Entertainment District will feature drivers competing on a purpose-built 14-turn, 2.73-mile temporary street circuit. They will complete 70 laps while racing past an NFL stadium and a MLB stadium.

No one knows which driver will win this street circuit race as it moves to an earlier start time. The best guess is someone from the Honda camp. According to the series, Honda-powered race cars have won 14 of the past 16 street races. The only exceptions were a pair of victories by Chevrolet’s Pato O’Ward.
