HOUSTON — The carnival area at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo closed early Saturday night after some guests began running, prompting others nearby to do the same.

In a statement, RodeoHouston officials said law enforcement responded quickly and that they are not aware of any injuries.

Out of an abundance of caution, organizers decided to close the carnival area for the rest of the night.

“The safety and security of our guests remains the top priority for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo,” the statement said, in part.

Officials said it was not immediately clear why the initial group of guests began running, but stressed that no actual incident occurred.
