The Western Hills Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Diamond Hill-Jarvis Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Western Hills is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they’ve averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Western Hills challenged Dunbar on Friday. The Cougars’ pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 16-0 shutout. The Cougars haven’t had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Addison Dudley made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Dudley was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Western Hills got a massive performance out of Vivian Hernandez, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Hernandez a new career-high. Zyniah Mitchell also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Western Hills hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Diamond Hill-Jarvis earned a 9-6 victory over Southwest on Friday.

Like Western Hills, Diamond Hill-Jarvis also got a great game from a two-way player: Yessenia Ybarra. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). Ybarra has been consistent recently: she hasn’t given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter’s box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Diamond Hill-Jarvis let Alexis Ramirez and Yamileth Villa run wild. Ramirez went 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Villa went 2-for-4 with two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lisette Parra, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

The win got Western Hills back to even at 6-6. As for Diamond Hill-Jarvis, their record now sits at 13-1.

Monday’s matchup will be a test for both teams’ pitchers. Western Hills hasn’t had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .390. However, it’s not like Diamond Hill-Jarvis struggles in that department as they’ve averaged .450. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Western Hills got the ‘W’ in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Diamond Hill-Jarvis by a conclusive 9-1 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We’ll find out soon enough.
